LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) ? Another local system is urging people to conserve water.? This time, it?s the Limestone County Water & Sewer Authority.
Effective immediately, the water authority urges people to cut their water usage, conserve and only use water for essential purposes.? If you see a water leak, please call (256) 233-6445 ext. 128.
The water shortage in Limestone County has left the small community of Minor Hill waterless. Hundreds of residents have had little to no city water pressure for several days after Limestone County shut off the supply of water they traditionally send to Minor Hill.
The surprise move left water board members scrambling to come up with a plan to get water to the hundreds of people they serve. Crews worked around the clock to get new pumps installed and getting water sent to Minor Hill from other water districts.
The temporarily pumps will cost over $40,000 a month to operate but it is the last option officials said they have left.
The Minor Hill Water Utility has asked residents to boil their water before using it and to conserve as much as possible until they can fully fill the city?s water tank and restore water pressure.
The Limestone County Water & Sewer Authority said it will lift the water use restrictions as soon as it is safe to do so.
Several water systems are urging conservation, including Lexington, Chisholm Heights, and East Lauderdale.? The Tennessee Valley is experiencing extreme drought conditions.
